Every great college essay starts with a blank page—and the hardest part is filling it. Drafts & Doughnuts gives rising seniors a dedicated time and place to do exactly that, one week at a time, with a College Bound Advising counselor right beside them.
Built around CBA's proven 8 Ps framework and our summer writing timeline, the seven sessions move students from a blank page in July to a polished, parent-ready draft by September. Week by week, they'll lock a topic, freewrite, shape a draft, revise for content and voice, and start their school-specific supplements—so they head back to school in the fall with their essays done, not hanging over them.
Each Thursday morning, students arrive to fresh doughnuts and a clear focus for the day.
We open with a short, practical mini-lesson—mind-mapping a topic, writing the "crappy first draft," finding the anecdote that shows instead of tells—then students settle into quiet writing time while our counselors circulate, answering questions and unsticking writer's block on the spot. No lectures, no busywork. Just real progress on a real essay, every single week.
